27 January 2019 – Armed Robbery – Taxi Driver – Launceston

Launceston CIB are investigating an incident involving a male taxi driver who sustained a stab wound to the neck in Elizabeth Street, Launceston, shortly after midday on Saturday 26 January 2019.

A 17 year old male youth has been charged in relation to the incident and will appear in after-hours sitting of the Launceston Magistrates Court on Sunday 27 January 2019.

Fortunately, the injury to the taxi driver was not life threatening and he is expected to be released from hospital on Sunday 27 January 2019.

Police appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Launceston CIB on 131444 or information can be provided anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperstas.com.au.

Police are also interested to hear from anyone who has  CCTV or dash cam footage of the area from just after midday on 26 January 2019.
