A man will face court after he allegedly robbed a delivery driver and a attempted to rob a fast food outlet in the city overnight.

Just on 1am on Thursday 31 January, a man armed with a large bread knife has threatened a delivery driver inside a  fast food restaurant on West Terrace, stealing the bag of food he was carrying.

The suspect has then threatened the staff at the restaurant and attempted to open the cash drawer at the counter, but he was unsuccessful and left just with the bag of food from the delivery driver.

Police patrols quickly converged on the area setting up cordons and searching for the suspect.

A man fitting the description of the offender from CCTV cameras at the restaurant was located on North Terrace, without the food and knife.

A further search nearby located the knife and the bag of food which was strewn on the ground uneaten.

A 24-year-old man from Elizabeth Vale was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, police bail has been refused and he will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

No person was injured in the incident.
