Detectives investigating the armed robbery of a Burrum Heads service station on the weekend have released CCTV footage to identify those responsible.

Around 5.40am on Saturday, two men arrived at the Ivor Drive service station in a stolen white Nissan X-Trail, armed with knives and a firearm.

The pair entered the premises wearing balaclavas and approached the counter where the attendant was able to lock themselves in a back room.

The men then fled the business in the vehicle with a sum of cash towards the southern side of the service station.

No one was physically injured and investigations are continuing.

Initial investigations indicate the white Nissan X-Trail bearing Queensland registration 089YLL was stolen from an address on Charlton Esplanade Scarness at Hervey Bay at 4.30am the same morning.

One of the men is described as Caucasian, solid build, approximately 175cm tall, wearing black shorts, grey hoody, red and white scarf over their face and black, and red shoes.

The second is described as Caucasian, with a proportionate build, approximately 185cm tall, wearing blue overalls, black balaclava, and black and blue shoes.
