Police have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery in the state’s north last week.

Just after 7:35pm on Saturday 23 March 2019, a man allegedly armed with a large knife walked into a service station on Single Street, Werris Creek, about 40km south west of Tamworth, and demanded money before fleeing the store on foot.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Officers from Oxley Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, police executed a warrant at a house on Henry Street, Werris Creek, about 2pm yesterday (Tuesday 26 March 2019), where they discovered a man hiding in the boot of a Holden Commodore at the back of the property.

A 24-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, larceny and destroy or damage property.

He was refused bail to appear in Tamworth Local Court today (Wednesday 27 March 2019).
