Police arrested more than 30 people last week as part of a three day operation targeting repeat offenders in the Northern suburbs.
Operation Stamp Out kicked off on Tuesday with a number of warrants executed at properties in Hume, Moreland and Moonee Valley.
As part of the operation, which involved both uniform and plain clothes members, police searched 105 addresses and arrested 37 people.
On the first day of the operation, police searched 40 properties in Hume and arrested 14 people.
The following day in Moreland, police searched 30 addresses and arrested 10 people.
On the final day of Operation Stamp Out, police searched 35 properties in Moonee Valley and made 13 arrests.
The arrests related to a number of offences including:
– assaults
– driving offences
– handling stolen goods
– theft
– affray
– theft of motor vehicle
– theft from motor vehicle
– weapons offences
– robbery
– armed robbery
– burglary
– deception
– failing to comply community based order
– drug offences
Of the arrests, the majority of offenders were males aged in their 20s and 30s, with the youngest being 16 years and the oldest, 51 years.
Detective Sergeant Michael Flanagan from Moonee Valley CIU said the operation was a success.
“Operation Stamp Out is just one example of how police are successfully and actively taking measures to address crime and arrest offenders in the Northern suburbs,” he said.
“Our message is clear – we will target those who repeatedly choose to break the law.
“The success of this operation highlights this, and serves as a warning to anyone looking to engage in criminal behaviour.”
