Police have appealed for information after an armed robbery at a business in Bonnyrigg yesterday.

Shortly after 6pm on Sunday 29 April two men entered a warehouse on Bonnyrigg Avenue and went to an office area where two staff members were working.

The men demanded that a safe be opened and threatened the workers with the handgun, when one of the employees struggled to open the safe.

The employees heard a loud noise and believed the gun may have been fired, although no projectile has been located at this time.

The men took a quantity of cash and fled from the premises making good their escape.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police from Fairfield Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

They were assisted by officers from Operation Spartan and a police dog which tracked a scent to a nearby fast food restaurant.

Police were unable to locate the men or any witnesses but have appealed for anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious in Bonnyrigg Avenue around 6pm yesterday to come forward.
