Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred this morning in Moffat Beach.

Initial information suggests that just before 10am, a man has entered a food store on Buccleugh Street and made demands for cash.

He placed a black bag on the counter and produced what appeared to be a firearm.

The attendant has complied and placed a sum of money from two cash registers into the bag.

The man then left the scene and was last seen heading south on Buchcleugh Street.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, of a slim build, around 180cms tall and had a slim to medium build.

He had dark hair that was shaved very short and was last seen wearing a grey and green t-shirt, white knee length socks with two blue stripes and dark coloured shoes.

Police investigations are continuing.
