Police from St George Local Area Command are appealing for information from the public following an armed robbery in Bexley.
About 6.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 16 May 2012), a man armed with a black handgun walked into a service station on Bexley Road and demanded the attendant hand over money.
The attendant, who was the only staff member working at the time, obliged with the man’s demands, handing over an amount of money from the cash register.
The armed man took the money and then left the service station. He was last seen running along Bexley Road, towards Kingsland Road.
The employee rang police, who arrived a short time later. A canvass of the scene was conducted, however officers were unable to locate the man.
Police would now like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the circumstances surrounding it.
The man police are looking for is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his early to mid twenties, approximately 175cm tall, with a skinny build.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a grey hooded-jacket with white writing across the front, black tracksuit pants, and white running shoes with a black trim.
