A man remains in hospital and a woman has been charged in relation to an alleged armed robbery at North Ryde earlier today.

Shortly after 9am (Friday 18 May 2012), a man allegedly entered a bank in Coxs Road and demanded money.

It will be alleged the man was armed with a handgun and threatened staff, however, security screens were activated, and the man left the building without any cash.

No staff or customers were injured as a result of the incident and no shots were fired during the alleged incident.

About 9.25am today, a 25-year-old man attended Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment to a gunshot wound to the leg. Investigators believe the wound was inflicted accidentally.

The man was taken to hospital in a small hatchback, allegedly driven by a female.

About 9.40am, a 26-year-old woman was arrested after returning to the hospital in a silver Volkswagen Golf hatchback.

Thee vehicle and a number of other items were also seized for forensic examination.

The woman was taken to Chatswood Police Station where she was charged with Robbery Whilst Armed (Attempted) with a Dangerous Weapon.

She’s been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow via video-link.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the alleged armed robbery, and a man remains in hospital under police guard.

He will be interviewed by police at a later date, pending medical advice.
