Police have charged a group of youths following two burglaries in East Ipswich early this morning.
A sporting club on Joyce Street was broken into just after midnight after a rear door was allegedly broken open. The club house was searched and damage was caused to fittings and doors. A television monitor, alcohol and other items were allegedly stolen.
Around 2.30am a worker at a store on Jacaranda Street was allegedly confronted by three young men at the rear of the shop. One of the group allegedly assaulted the 37-year old local man while the other two allegedly entered the shop and stole property including the keys to his car.
The trio allegedly stole his car which was located nearby with fire damage.
The man suffered eye injury, facial bruising and laceration and was taken to Ipswich Base Hospital for treatment.
A 16-year-old and an 18-year-old man were charged with burglary relating to the first break in. They were also charged along with another 16-year-old boy for burglary, robbery, unlawful use and arson a motor vehicle in relation to the second incident.
Another 18-year-old man was charged for receiving tainted property.
The boys will be dealt with in accordance with the Youth Justice Act and the man is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on May 22.
