Police have arrested three people following a spate of incidents overnight that began with an armed robbery and has culminated with a police car being cleaned up by a garbage truck.
At about 10.07pm last night, two males described as being of Aboriginal appearance and armed with a machete and a screw driver held up the Bridgeway hotel at Pooraka.
It is not known how the left the area however a witness reported a silver coloured commodore with four occupants acting suspiciously in the area.
At about 1.30am, a commodore with what witnesses described as containing young occupants was seen driving at speed on Grand Junction Road, Northfield with no lights on and doing burn-outs.
At about 1.40am, police were advised of a petrol drive-off involving a blue coloured sedan at a service station on Hampstead Road, Broadview.
Surveillance footage showed a blue sedan with a rego of THD-094 and three or more males.
At about 2.09am, four of five people attempted to force their way into a bakery on RM Williams Drive, Walkley Heights.
They didn’t get in and witnesses stated a blue vehicle left the scene.
At about 2.18am, a silver/grey commodore with no head lights on forced a car off road on Main North Road at Mawson Lakes.
The unsuspecting driver was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.
A short time later another crash occurred on Main North Road with the victim stating the offending car was a silver/grey commodore sedan.
The Motor Accident Commission helicopter was engaged to assist patrols on the ground however the vehicle wasn’t located.
At about 3.16am, a car was set on fire in Wheeler Street, Pooraka and it turned out to be a blue ford sedan.
A short time later, police located three youths on Hampstead Road, Northfield and detained them in light of the surveillance footage viewed at the service station.
As they were doing this, a garbage truck drove around the corner and straight into the rear of a parked police car.
In the meantime, a 15-year-old male youth and a 16-year-old male youth both from Hampstead Gardens and a 15-year-old male youth from Greenacres have been charged with illegal use, the petrol drive-off and arson.
Needless to say, police will continue to make enquiries in relation to the night’s events.
The three arrested are not believed to be linked to the hotel robery.
