Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a service station at Beenleigh this morning.

Initial information suggests around 1am a man entered a City Road shop allegedly armed with a knife and made demands for cash.

The man fled the store empty handed after realising there was a limited amount of cash kept on the premises.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 180cm tall and with a slim build and red hair.

Police investigations are continuing.
