Police are investigating the knife-point robbery of a taxi driver in Sydney’s west last night.
About 11.25pm (Sunday 3 June), the 48-year-old cab driver picked up a male passenger on George Street in Sydney’s CBD near the intersection of Quay Street.
The man drove to Eastbourne Road at Homebush West where he was directed to stop.
The passenger grabbed the driver in a headlock and threatened him with a knife.
The driver was forced to hand over cash before the armed ran from the scene.
Officers from Flemington Local Area Command searched the area with the assistance of a police dog but the offender could not be found.
The taxi has been seized for forensic examination.
The man involved is described as Asian, 175cm tall, wearing reading glasses, a blue jumper and blue jeans.
