Flemington Police are investigating a failed attempt by two men to rob a hotel in Flemington last night.
About 12.45am, Wednesday (6 June 2012) two men, one armed with a machete, the other armed with a handgun, approached the front door of the hotel on Parramatta Road.
At that time, the duty manager was closing the front door as he was letting the last patron out for the night.
As he saw the armed men approaching he was able to quickly close and lock the door from the inside, then ran and locked himself inside the cellar.
The two men tried to force the door, and checked all other points of entry into the hotel, and failed to gain entry.
They fled the area in a silver sedan.
The man armed with the handgun was wearing a blue hoodie with writing on the front, a black balaclava, blue track pants and light colours runners.
The man armed with the machete was wearing a blue hoodie with the hood pulled up, dark material across his face and blue track pants with light coloured runners.
