Police have established a crime scene following an armed robbery at a bank in Seven Hills this afternoon.

About 2.45pm (Wednesday 6 June, 2012) two men entered a bank in a shopping complex on the Prospect Highway.

The men, one armed with a firearm, the other possibly with a sledgehammer, demanded money from the employees.

A staff member activated the security screens, however one of the men managed to get behind the counter through a door.

Once behind the counter, a shot was fired into the floor, and an amount of cash was taken.

The men fled the bank in a silver BMW or Mercedes sedan.

There were a number of customers inside the bank at the time.

No one was injured during the incident.

Specialist police are currently on scene including the Dog Squad and Polair.

Investigations are continuing.
