A man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery in Parramatta yesterday.

About 4.20pm, (Friday 16 November, 2012), a man allegedly approached a 19-year-old man using an ATM on Church Street.

The man, armed with a knife, threatened the 19-year-old before taking some cash and fleeing the location.

Police from Parramatta Local Area Command attended and conducted a search of the area

About 6.15pm, a man allegedly obtained a small amount of money from a female driver after approaching her on Campbell Street.

He allegedly threatened to rob her at knife point if she didn’t give him some money.

About 8.50pm, police arrested a 26-year-old Parramatta man on Church Street and conducted a search and allegedly located a knife and a small amount of cannabis.

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, demand property with menaces with intent to steal, custody of a knife in public place, possess prohibited drug and intimidate police officer.

It is further alleged that whilst at the police station the man made threats against a police officer.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 17 November 2012).
