Police investigating an armed robbery at Lake Macquarie have released security footage of two people who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

About 3.25am last Friday (23 November 2012), two males – both armed with knives – entered a service station on Main Road, Edgeworth.

The pair threatened the 25-year-old male attendant and ordered him to place money and cigarettes into a bag. The employee complied.

The two males were last seen running towards to Turnbull Street before driving away in a car.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command arrived a short time later, and a crime scene was established.

Police have released CCTV images of two people they would like to speak to in relation to the matter.

The first person depicted in the images is described as being a male of average build.

At the time of the incident, he is shown wearing a dark hoodie with white text and motif, dark long pants and white shoes.

The second person depicted in the images is described as being a male of Caucasian appearance and average build.

At the time of the incident, he is shown wearing a grey hoodie with white text and motif, dark long pants and dark thongs.
