East Metropolitan District Crime Team officers have charged a woman in relation to two incidents involving people being threatened with a syringe, the last being on Saturday 1 December 2012. About 6:30am on Saturday a woman entered a fast food restaurant on Great Eastern Highway, Midland and approached the counter, demanding cash. After not being given anything the woman produced a syringe and again demanded cash. Shortly after, another staff member approached the woman and asked her to leave, and it will be alleged the woman again produced the syringe and demanded cash. Police had been made aware of the incident and attended the location, locating the alleged offender still present and took her into custody. During the course of the subsequent investigation officers identified a separate incident on Saturday 23 June 2012. About 3:00pm a woman who was in company with two other women approached another woman who was sitting on a bench at a shopping centre on Albany Highway, Cannington. It will be alleged the offender produced a syringe and demanded the victim hand over personal property. The victim, fearing for her safety, complied with the demands and handed over her phone. A 23 year old woman from York has been charged with Aggravated Armed Robbery and two counts of Attempted Armed Robbery, and she will appear in the Midland Magistrates Court today, Monday 3 December 2012.
