12 December 2012 – Arrest – Armed Robbery – Shopping Centre Car Park – Margate

Police have arrested and charged a man following an armed robbery in a shopping centre car park earlier this morning.

Around 2.30, a man was approached whilst using an ATM at the shopping centre on the corner of Baynes Street and Oxley Avenue.

It was alleged that the 40-year-old has assaulted the man and produced a knife before stealing his phone.

A 40-year-old Margate man has been charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of wilful damage.

He is due to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.
