At 12.10pm yesterday Police arrested a 40-year-old Unley Park man for a series of handbag snatches.

These aggravated robberies and thefts happened in the North Adelaide, Burnside and Unley areas where elderly women were targeted.

The first robbery happened on the 21/1/13 at Unley where a 79-year-old Kensington Park woman was dragged from her vehicle after a male opened her car door and grabbed the handbag she was holding.

The second robbery on the 28/1/13 at Burnside where a pregnant 36-year-old Greenhill woman had her purse snatched from her after she had been pushed to the ground.

The third robbery on the 28/1/13 at North Adelaide where a 70-year-old North Adelaide woman had her purse snatched from her after she had attended an ATM to withdraw money.

The fourth robbery on the 28/1/13 at North Adelaide where an 81-year-old North Adelaide woman had her purse snatched from her as she was carrying groceries home.

The fifth robbery on the 29/1/13 at Unley where a 68-year-old Urrbrae woman had her purse snatched from her as she was walking through a department store car park.

The most recent robbery at about 10.20am yesterday at Glenside where a 83-year-old St Georges woman was dragged to the ground as a man pulled her handbag from her shoulder.

Members of the public provided vital information which assisted police with their enquiries and subsequently located the suspect at Kingswood.

The man has been charged with three counts of aggravated robbery, one count of robbery, two counts of theft and a count of provide false name.

He appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court earlier today.
