Ipswich detectives have charged a 27-year-old Coominya man with armed robbery and dangerous driving after property was stolen from two service stations this morning.
Preliminary information indicates that a man stole sunglasses and other property from a service station located on the Brisbane Valley Highway at Fernvale around 4am. The man threatened staff before driving off.
It is believed the man then drove to a service station on the Warrego Highway, Blacksoil around 4.15am, where he again verbally threatened staff before stealing property from the shop.
Patrolling police located the man on the Warrego Highway and attempted to intercept him, however he failed to stop and drove off, with police pursuing the vehicle.
The vehicle stopped at a service station on Railway Terrace, Redbank where the man exited the car, before re-entering a short time later and driving off.
The man then stopped his vehicle on Railway Terrace and was taken into custody by police.
No one was injured during the incidents and the man is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today where he faces charges including two counts of armed robbery (pretend to be armed with an offensive instrument), dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a dangerous drug.
