Police are investigating the armed robbery of a jewellery store at Cotton Tree this morning in which an employee was assaulted.

Around 10am a man entered the store on The Esplanade before producing a firearm and making demands for jewellery and cash.

While staff members were complying with his demands, the man became violent and pushed one of the male employees against a wall, causing a laceration to his cheek.

The man stole a quantity of jewellery and cash before fleeing the scene on foot.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, aged in his early 30s, approximately 180cm tall with a proportionate build, tanned complexion and ginger hair.

He was wearing a blue business shirt, black vest, business pants and a beige short brimmed hat.

Detectives have released a comfit of the man (pictured) who they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.
