A man has been refused bail and is expected to appear in court today after he was arrested for two alleged robberies in the Manning-Great Lakes district.
About 2.20am, Tuesday 12 March, 2013, police allege a man entered a service station in Glenthorne and approached the counter. He asked the male employee for a packet of cigarettes before producing a knife and demanding money.
The operator handed over cash and cigarettes and the man left the service station on foot.
Following inquiries by police attached to Manning-Great Lakes Local Area Command, officers attended a house in Purfleet about 1pm yesterday, and arrested a 22-year-old man.
He was taken to Taree Police Station where he was interviewed and charged.
The man was also interviewed in relation to an alleged separate attempted robbery at a bowling club in Windale on Friday 8, March, 2013.
The man was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon and assault with intent to rob. He was refused bail and will appear in Taree Local Court today.
