Regional Investigations Unit detectives have charged a man in relation to three armed robbery incidents and an attempted armed robbery incident, all which occurred on Sunday 10 March 2013 and Monday 11 March 2013.

About 8:30pm on Sunday, 10 March 2013, a man entered a bottle shop on Amelia Street Balcatta and approached the counter armed with a knife, and what the staff member thought was a firearm. He demanded cash and the staff member complied with his demands, before the offender left in a red Mitsubishi Pajero.

About 4:40am yesterday a man entered a service station on Main Street, Osborne Park and approached the counter armed with a cattle prod electric shock device. He demanded cashand fled after the staff member handed over an amount of money.

About two hours later (6:45am), a man entered a service station on Wanneroo Road, Balcatta and approached the counter armed with a cattle prod and demanded cash. The staff member complied and the offender ran from the store.

The last incident, at 7:25am involved a man entering a service station on Wanneroo Road, Tuart Hill and approached the counter armed with a cattle prod. He demanded cash, however the staff member refused and the offender left the area in a red Mitsubishi Pajero.

A short time later a dog squad unit was on patrol in Balcatta when a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle used in at least two of the offences was seen parked outside a setof units that were under construction. A search of the units resulted in the person of interest being located hiding in the roof space of one of the units. The man arrested and handed overto the Regional Investigations Unit.

It will be alleged the accused man was responsible for all four offences. A 32 year old man from Osborne Park has been charged with three counts of Aggravated Armed robbery and one count of Attempted Aggravated Armed Robbery, and he will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 12 March 2013.
