Police are appealing for witnesses after a man attempted to rob a service station in Northcote on Wednesday.
Investigators have been told the offender armed with a golf club entered the High Street service station near Clarke Street just before 2pm.
The man demanded cash from a staff member and started smashing the front display  and glass entry to the attendant’s area.
The attendant locked themselves in the staff area and was not injured during the armed robbery.
The bandit fled the scene empty handed and was last seen walking north on High Street.
The offender is described as Southern European in appearance, 175cm tall with a medium build and brown hair.
He was wearing a fluorescent reflective vest, aviator sunglasses, blue t shirt, blue jeans, thongs and a hat, similar to a conductor’s hat.
