An alleged armed robber has been restrained by security staff and members of the public following an armed robbery at an entertainment venue in Springvale overnight.
Police were called to the premises at the corner of Osborne and Princess Avenue’s after reports a group of men, armed with a knife, threatened staff just after 11pm.
Investigators have been told two patrons and security staff confronted the armed robbers and a physical struggle broke out spilling onto Princess Avenue.
One of the offenders was overpowered and restrained by the good Samaritans until police arrived.
The other wanted men fled the scene.
A 19-year-old Clarinda man was arrested at the scene and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
One of the patrons received a minor laceration to the face during the struggle and was treated by ambulance paramedics at the scene.
Investigations are continuing into the armed robbery and into who else was involved.
