Police are appealing for information from the public following the armed robbery of a service station in Sydney’s south-west today.
Just after 5am (Saturday 16 March 2013), two men entered the premises on the Cumberland Highway, Smithfield.

One of the men was carrying a 30-centimetre-long machete.

The pair threatened the 28-year-old male cashier, who handed over an amount of cash and about 20 packets of cigarettes.

The men then fled the address, and were last seen running west along Victoria Road, Smithfield.

No-one was injured during the incident.

A crime scene was established and examined by officers from the Forensic Armed Robbery Unit.
Police from Fairfield Local Area Command are investigating and would like to speak with two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
Both men are described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged 20 to 30 years, about 170cm tall, and with a slim build.

They both wore black hooded jumpers, black pants and black gloves. The man carrying the machete was also wearing a red handkerchief across his face.
