Police are investigating after a licenced premises was broken into and cash was stolen in Brisbane City overnight.

Around 11.50pm a man entered the George Street hotel before gaining access to an upstairs area.

A locked door to an office was forced open where a sum of cash was stolen.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, medium build, approx. 172cms tall, wearing a grey jumper, grey work shorts, black runners with white soles and a black beanie.
