Police from Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding an attempted armed robbery at a specialty fruit shop in Bondi last night.
About 7.45pm (Sunday 31 March, 2013) two men entered the store on Bondi Road via a back store room door.
The two men, one armed with a pistol, and wearing black track pants with hooded jumpers and caps, waited in the store room.
Two male staff members, aged 46 and 49, were on the premises at the time.
The older man went to the store room where he was confronted by the men and threatened with the pistol.
The second staff member walked into the room and was also threatened.
The two men ran from the store and were seen to get into a large white four door sedan that was waiting in Coulton Street, being driven by a third man.
No one was injured during the attempted robbery, and no property or money was stolen.
