A teenager been charged over an armed raid on a Southern Highlands bottle shop.

Just before 7.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 April 2013), a female employee at the Mittagong business noticed a male youth placing bottles of spirits and packets of cigarettes into a backpack.

The teenager then produced a knife and rushed towards the woman.

He demanded the victim open the cash register before grabbing a sum of money and fleeing the scene on a BMX bike he had left outside the Victoria Street shop.

Police from Goulburn Local Area Command responded to the incident.

As a result of inquiries, a 15-year-old boy was taken into custody in the Mittagong township earlier today (Thursday 4 April 2013).

Several items were seized as evidence.

The teenager was subsequently charged with robbery whilst armed; two unrelated break, enter and steal offences; and four first instance warrants; and refused bail to appear in Campbelltown Children’s Court tomorrow (Friday 5 April 2013).
