Police are searching for two men following the attempted armed robbery of an adult store at Hyde Park this evening.

Around 7.30pm the pair entered the Charters Towers Road business before threatening the male employee with a knife and attempting to steal cash from the register.

The attendant produced a wooden bat and struck one of the men before chasing them out of the store empty-handed.

It is believed the men left the scene in a taxi and were driven to Hermit Park.

One of the men is described as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, aged in his 30s, approximately 180cm tall with a heavy build.

The other man is described as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, aged in his 30s, about 175cm tall with a slim build.
