A teenager has been charged over a number of alleged robberies targeting pizza delivery drivers in Sydney’s south west.
On Saturday 23 and Wednesday 27 March 2013, two pizza delivery drivers were robbed by a group of males in Leumeah.
In each incident a call was made to a local pizza shop and the drivers were directed to attend homes that all backed onto, or were near, bushland. When they arrived at the homes they were confronted by the group and robbed of their takings.
Detectives from Campbelltown Local Area Command have been investigating the incidents, which are believed to be linked.
Two further incidents are also being investigated where calls were made to pizza shops; however, police intervention prevented robberies from taking place.
Following inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Middleton Road, Leumeah, about 2.30pm today (Saturday 6 April 2013).
A 17-year-old male was arrested at the home and taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with robbery, robbery while armed with offensive weapon, and two counts of conspiring to rob.
He’s been bail refused and will appear at Parramatta Children’s Court tomorrow (Sunday 7 April 2013).
Inquiries are continuing to identify and arrest the other males involved.
