Fawkner Embona detectives have released CCTV footage following an attempted armed robbery at a milkbar in Roxburgh Park back in February.
Investigators have been told a masked man armed with a sword entered the Hayfield Road business about 9.20am on Monday 18 February and attempted to go behind the counter.
The staff member then challenged the offender in the store before he fled the scene empty handed.
No one was injured during the incident.
The man is described as being aged in his late teens, approximately 170cm tall with a medium build.
He was wearing a balaclava with a white skeleton pattern on it, dark-coloured track suit pants, a grey hooded jacket and dark shoes.
Police have released the below images of a man who may be able to assist with their investigation.
