Thanks to a speedy response by police patrols, two men have been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and theft of a motor vehicle last night.
At about 3.45pm yesterday, police will allege a man entered the Cockatoo Valley General Store on Williamstown Road, threatened staff with a knife and demanded money.
When staff handed over money and cigarettes, the man fled and was seen getting into a red Nissan Pulsar, driven by another man.
Further enquiries revealed this Nissan was reported stolen.
Within minutes of police patrols being tasked to the robbery, a car was reported on fire and two men seen running from it in close proximity to the General Store.
Cordons were set up and following a search of the area, police located two men matching the description of the suspects involved in the robbery, trying to start up another car which was parked behind a dirt mound near the junction of Rosedale Road and Barossa Valley Highway.
Police will further allege the cash and cigarettes stolen from the store were located in the boot of the car.
The men, both aged 20 from Reeves Plains and Karoonda were refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
