A man has been charged with the aggravated robbery of a hotel on Hanson Rd on Sunday night.

About 8.10pm members of the Western Adelaide CIB were driving past the hotel at Woodville North when they saw a man acting suspiciously in the area of the drive-in bottle shop.

They saw the man enter the bottle shop and take five bottles of alcohol. It will be alleged he assaulted the attendant during the incident.

The officers chased the man across Hanson Rd and arrested him without incident.

The accused, a 25-year-old man from Woodville Gardens, was charged with aggravated robbery, giving a false name and hindering police.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
