As a result of an on-going police investigation, Detectives from the Western Adelaide CIB have arrested a 52-year-old woman from West Lakes following a series of bag snatches in Port Adelaide.

Police will allege the incidents occurred between 26 February and 16 April where the victims, mostly elderly, were either robbed or had their handbags stolen.

At about 8.30pm last night, police searched the woman’s home and located several items of property allegedly belonging to some of the victims.

The woman has been charged with seven counts of theft and four counts of aggravated robbery.

She was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Stewart Dodd, Officer in Charge Western Adelaide Criminal Investigation Branch said “This investigation and subsequent arrest reflects the good work by all officers from the Western Adelaide Local Service involved in this matter. It should be reassuring to the members of the Port Adelaide community, particularly our elderly, that the investigation into this series of incidents has resulted in an arrest. ”
