A man has been charged following the attempted armed robbery of a service station in Villawood yesterday.
About 5.40pm, (Monday 29 April, 2013), a man entered a service station on Woodville Road where he allegedly threatened the console operator, and a customer, with a smashed bottle, demanding money.
The 25-year-old staff member ushered the 48-year-old customer into the console office and activated the duress alarm.
The man continued demanding money and smashing up the store before the arrival of police.
Officers entered the store and arrested the 35-year-old man. He was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
He was refused bail and will appear in Fairfield Local Court today.
