Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery in Fairfield.
About 11.30pm yesterday (Saturday 11 May 2013), a male entered a petrol station on Fairfield Street, and threatened a 37-year-old employee with a knife before demanding money.
The employee suffered a small stab wound to his shoulder after refusing to give the offender any money.
The offender then ran from the location empty-handed.
Police were alerted to the incident and attended the location, establishing a crime scene and conducting extensive patrols for the alleged offender.
The victim was treated by Ambulance Paramedics at the scene and then taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Fairfield Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and would like to speak to a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as having olive-coloured skin, about 183cm tall, with grey hair and of a large build. At the time of the incident the man was wearing blue jeans and a light blue-coloured, hooded jumper.
