Detectives have charged three men as part of investigations into a series of armed robberies and a public place shooting on the state’s North Coast.

Just after 9pm on Sunday 12 November 2017, five men – armed with a machete and iron bars – entered a golf club on West Street, Casino, and threatened two male employees.

One of the employees, a 46-year-old man, was hit with the machete and suffered bruising, before the men fled the scene empty handed.

Police were called to a second incident about 5am on Tuesday 9 July 2019 and were told three men – armed with bars – approached an employee outside a newsagency at Laurieton.

One of the men allegedly hit the 55-year-old male employee, before threatening him.

They stole cash and fled the store.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Mid North Coast Police District established Strike Force Yengo to investigate the incidents which are believed to be linked.

During the course of the investigation, police received information about shots fired at a home on Rodlee Street, Wauchope, on Wednesday 10 July 2019.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives, assisted by Strike Force Raptor North, Public Order and Riot Squad, Northern Region Operations Support Group and the Dog Unit, executed six search warrants at homes at Port Macquarie, West Kempsey, South Kempsey, Greenhill and Burnt Bridge about 6.30am today (Wednesday 9 October 2019).

Investigators also conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) search at a home at Port Macquarie.

During the searches, police seized two long-arm firearms, a home-made handgun, $10,000 cash, mobile phones, cannabis, and clothing.

Three men – aged 19, 23 and 29 – were arrested during the operation and taken to Kempsey Police Station.

The 19-year-old man was charged with six offences including two counts of accessory before the fact to fire firearm at dwelling-house with disregard for safety, give firearm to person not authorised by licence, supply, give ammunition to person not authorised, possess unauthorised firearm, and possess ammunition without holding licence.

The 23-year-old man was charged with eight offences including robbery armed with offensive weapon, take person in company with intent to commit serious indictable, take person in company with intent to commit serious indictable, robbery armed with offensive weapon, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, fire firearm at dwelling-house with disregard for safety, possess loaded firearm public place, acquire firearm – subject to prohibition order.

The 29-year-old man was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

They were all refused bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court today.

Investigations under Strike Force Yengo are continuing and further arrests are expected.

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery on the state’s south coast.

About 8.45pm yesterday (Monday 30 September 2019) two men attended a club on Callala Beach Road, Callala Beach.

The two men, allegedly armed with hand guns and with their faces covered, forced entry through the front door of the club. before demanding access to the safe from two employees.

A male employee was allegedly punched in the face before the two men fled on foot empty handed.

The man sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Officers from South Coast Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Police investigating an armed robbery at Lalor Park have released vision of the incident as they appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

About 4.45pm on Friday 30 August 2018, a 25-year-old staff member was threatened by a man armed with a firearm outside a licensed premises on Sackville Street.

The man, who had his face covered with a hood, entered the store with the staff member and demanded cash.

He was given a bag with an amount of cash before he fled the scene on a bicycle. The staff member was not injured.

Investigating police have now released vision and images of the incident.

The offender has been described as male, 180-190cm tall, Caucasian, wearing a black spray jacket with the hood over his head, trackpants, black/green coloured joggers, and carrying he was carrying a black sports 19 Septembag with blue straps and riding a black pushbike.

Anyone with information on the identity of the man is urged to contact police.

Police have released CCTV images and are appealing for information after a robbery at a club south of Wollongong earlier this year.

About 8.15am on Monday 18 March 2019, two men wearing ski masks entered a club on Lake Avenue, Cringila, approached staff and demanded cash.

No one was physically injured.

The men left the scene with cash and were last seen walking west along Gorrell Street, before fleeing the scene in a silver Holden Commodore sedan, possibly a VZ 2002-2004 model, bearing black and yellow registration plates.

Police have released CCTV images of two men, who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

One man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 30s, approximately 182cm tall, and with a solid build.

He is depicted wearing black track-suit pants, a black hooded jumper, gloves and black shoes with a white motif on the side. He was also carrying a backpack.

The second man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 30s, and of slim build.

He is depicted wearing black pants and a black hooded jumper with a red triangle emblem on the front, black shoes and white socks.

Four people have been charged over their alleged roles in the planning of an armed robbery at Warwick Farm last year.

About 5.15am on Thursday 5 July 2018, two men – armed with a knife and an electronic stun device – entered a hotel on the Hume Highway, Warwick Farm, and threatened two employees.

The men stole cash and fled in a vehicle, which was waiting on Liverpool Street.

No one was injured during the incident.

Detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Amor to investigate the armed robbery.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives arrested two women – aged 21 and 49 – and a 26-year-old man at Liverpool Police Station about yesterday (Wednesday 4 September 2019).

The man was charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, knowingly direct criminal group assist crime, and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime intent to conceal (x3).

He has been refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday 5 September 2019), where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at the same court on Monday 28 October 2019.

The younger woman was charged with knowingly deal with proceeds of crime intent to conceal (x8), and accessory after the fact robbery armed/in company.

The older woman was charged with recklessly deal with proceeds of crime (x3).

They have both been granted conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 25 September 2019.

A fourth person, a 23-year-old man, has also been charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, deal with proceeds of crime, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity. He is next due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 30 October 2019.

Investigations under Strike Force Amor are continuing, and police are still seeking two men in relation to the incident.

Meanwhile, detectives are appealing for public assistance as they continue to investigate a robbery at the same hotel that occurred earlier this year.

About 4am on Friday 22 March 2019, two men entered the licensed premises, before threatening and punching a male employee.

The men stole cash and fled on foot.

Police would like to speak to anyone with information that may assist them with their inquiries.

Police are investigating an armed robbery in the state’s Northern Rivers region.

Shortly after 9.10pm on Monday 2 September 2019, two male employees were at a licenced premises on Beech Street, Evans Head, when two unknown offenders broke through the front entry.

The pair – dressed in dark clothing and hooded jumpers, with their faces covered – threatened the employees with what’s believed to be a weapon.

The men were restrained before the offenders fled the scene with a sum of cash.

The two employees managed to free themselves and call police, with officers from Richmond Police District arriving a short time later and establishing a crime scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or who may have dashcam footage from the hours of 5pm (Monday 2 September) to 1am (Tuesday 3 September) to contact Ballina Police Station on 6681 8699 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

In light of this incident, Richmond Police District Duty Officer Inspector Chad Deegenaars is reminding all businesses in the area to check their security systems.

“An amount of planning may assist in reducing the risks of armed robbery at your store.

“Ensure all back and side doors as well as windows are secured, reduce the amount of cash maintained at the premesis to a minimum, and install signage at the premises alerting wannabee thieves to the security measures in place.

“While these may seem like routine precautions, every and any step you can take to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime is worth it,” Insp Deegenaars said.

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a hotel in Regents Park today.

Just after 10.40am (Sunday 18 August 2019), emergency services were called to licensed premises on Amy Street, following reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told three men entered the building from the rear. One man approached a female bar attendant and threatened her with a gun while demanding cash from the register.

A man threatened a male employee and patron with a gun and demanded cash from a safe.

All three men fled the scene with cash and police were contacted. No injuries have been reported.

Officers from Auburn Police Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the robbery.

One man was seen wearing a dark blue hoodie, green pants, black shoes, a white hat and a black cloth covering his face.

A second man was seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, red shoes and a black cloth covering his face.

A third man was wearing a black and white hoodie with black pants, grey shoes and a white cloth covering his face.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage from the nearby area are urged to contact Auburn police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Inquiries continue.

Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery in Sydney’s south overnight.

Just before 1am (Sunday 4 August 2019), employees of a registered club at Arncliffe, were making their way to their nearby vehicles after locking up, when they were approached by two men and threatened.

The men – one armed with a firearm – stole a backpack from one of the employees, before demanding the keys to the club.

The duo fled with the property and got in a waiting silver Ford Falcon station wagon, driven by a third man. The vehicle drove off, travelling north-east on Arncliffe Street, towards Wolli Creek.

Officers from St George Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries continue, investigators would like to speak to three men who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The men are described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance and aged in their 20s. They were wearing dark coloured hooded jumpers and masks to cover their faces.

Entry was not gained to the club and the employees were not physically injured during the incident.

Detectives have released CCTV vision of a vehicle of interest as they continue to investigate an armed robbery at a liquor store in the Illawarra region last year.

About 6.30pm on Tuesday 31 July 2018, a man – armed with a knife – entered a liquor store on Blackwood Street, Gerringong.

The armed man threatened a 56-year-old female employee before stealing cash and fleeing the store.

The woman was not physically injured.

Local police attended and established a crime scene before the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigation.

As part of ongoing inquiries, strike force investigators have released CCTV vision of a white utility and are appealing for public assistance.

The vision depicts the utility travelling on Fern Street, Gerringong, shortly before the armed robbery. 

Anyone with information about the vehicle or the incident is urged to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.

The men – one armed with a firearm and sledge hammer, the second with a machete and sledge hammer – threatened six staff members and locked them in a room.

The men stole a sum of cash before fleeing the premises.

Officers from South Coast Police District attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries continue, investigators would like to speak to two men who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The first man is described as having a large build and was wearing dark clothing with his head and face covered at the time of the offence.

The second man is described as having a smaller build and was also wearing dark clothing, with a red bandana covering his face.

No staff members were physically injured during the incident.
