A 23-year-old Hobart man is in police custody assisting with inquiries in relation to an Armed Robbery committed at a Hobart CBD pharmacy last night.

Around 5.30pm yesterday, police responded to a report of a man entering the ChemMart Pharmacy on the corner of Liverpool and Criterion Streets, threatening staff members with a knife and demanding prescription medication. Staff members complied with the offender’s demands and he then fled the premises.

Police immediately searched the area and located a man matching the description given by witnesses, and in possession of a quantity of prescription medication.

The man was taken into police custody.

At this stage no formal charges have been laid and the police investigation is ongoing.

The staff members were not physically injured during the incident.

Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Terry White Chemist in Sandy Bay yesterday afternoon where a man threatened a staff member with a knife then fled the scene with a quantity of prescription medication.

Around 2pm yesterday a man entered the premises, purchased a quantity of flu medication, and then left the store.

Around 4.15pm the man returned to the premises and approached a staff member with a box cutter knife and demanded prescription medication.

The staff member complied with the offender’s demands and he then fled the scene with a quantity of prescription medication. He was seen walking down Sandy Bay Road past the World’s End Brewpub.

He was described as being mid-late 20s, around 180cm tall, medium to stocky build, full brown beard, shoulder length curly brown hair, wearing blue jeans, red scarf, black fedora hat, white and blue sneakers, purple backpack with Simpsons cartoons on it.

A man has been charged over an armed robbery at a pharmacy near Lake Macquarie yesterday.

About 3.45pm (Saturday 16 June 2018), police will allege a man entered a pharmacy in Singleton Street, Belmont.

He allegedly threatened a staff member with a blood-filled syringe before stealing medication and leaving the store.

No one was injured.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District commenced an investigation.

A short time later, a 38-year-old man was arrested after he was found hiding in the yard of a home in May Street, Belmont.

Police allegedly seized the medication nearby on Church Street.

The man was taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Sunday 17 June 2018).

Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a pharmacy in Biggera Waters this evening.

Initial investigations indicate that around 7.20pm, a man armed with a hammer walked into the Brisbane Road business and approached the pharmacist at the counter.

The man made demands for drugs, and the pharmacist refused.

The man then left the business empty-handed. He was last seen on Brighton Street.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

The man had his face covered with a black mask. He is described as solid, approximately 178cm tall, and was last seen wearing grey track pants, white t-shirt, thongs, gloves, and a baseball cap.

Gold Coast detectives investigating the armed robbery of a pharmacy in Southport on Thursday March 22 have charged a man in relation to the incident.

It will be alleged just before 7:30pm a man entered the business on Ferry Road armed with what appeared to be a long knife or gardening tool.

The man allegedly threatened a male security guard before demanding money from another male employee.

Police will further allege the man assaulted the security guard before the second employee complied with his demands, handing over a sum of cash to the man who then fled the scene.

The security guard was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries to his face and hand.

As a result of their enquiries officers took a man into custody at a Southport address yesterday evening.

A 45-year-old Southport man has been charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, deprivation of liberty and armed robbery with violence.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on March 24.

Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a chemist in Southport overnight.

At around 9:20pm a man entered the business on Nerang Street and demanded medication.

When the man was refused access to the medication he produced a syringe and threatened a staff member.

The staff member refused again and the man fled the store on foot and was last seen travelling towards Queen Street.

The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 170cm tall, of a thin build, aged in his 40s with a small stubbly beard.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, shorts, dark-coloured shoes, and a light-coloured baseball cap.

A man has been arrested in relation to an armed robbery at Carss Park after he was arrested in Miranda last night.

St George detectives have been investigating the robbery of a pharmacy in Carwar Avenue about 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 January 2018) in which drugs were allegedly stolen by a man armed with a meat cleaver.

About 10.50pm yesterday, officers from Miranda stopped a car on Corea Street, Miranda, for the purposes of a random breath test.

The driver was subjected to a roadside breath test and returned a negative result.

The 41-year-old man was subjected to a roadside drug test, and allegedly returned a positive result. He was taken to hospital for blood and urine tests.

Meanwhile, a number of items suspected of being stolen were located in the car which has since been seized by St George detectives.

The man was taken to Miranda Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court tomorrow (Friday 12 January 2018).

A man has been charged following the attempted robbery of a pharmacy in Southpoort overnight.

At 8.20pm, a man entered a pharmacy on Marine Parade and it will be alleged that he went behind the counter and claimed to have a firearm.

It is further alleged that the man then made threats to use the firearm and started filling a bag with medication.

Two men who were in the store restrained the man and police arrived on scene shortly after and took him into custody.

One of the men restraining the man suffered a broken knuckle as a result of the incident.

A 47-year-old Burleigh Waters man has been charged with one count of armed robbery.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on December 11.

Police have arrested a man following a robbery at Semaphore Park this afternoon.

Police were called to the chemist and post office on Bartley Terrace about 3.15pm today (25 October) after a man allegedly made threats towards staff and demanded cash. The man took off on foot with an amount of cash.

A staff member and customer followed the man until patrols arrived in the area, where he was subsequently arrested in Fairford Terrace.

No one was physically injured during the incident and no weapons were sighted.

A 49-year-old man from Semaphore Park was charged with attempt aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery. He has been refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Glen Eira Bayside Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a robbery in Ormond earlier this month (3 October).

It is believed a man entered a pharmacy on North Road about 7pm.

The man then reportedly became verbally aggressive, making demands for prescription medication, and threatening a staff member.

He then went behind the counter and stole a quantity of prescription medication and an amount of cash.

The offender has then fled the business on foot, running north along Lillimur Road.

No one was injured during the incident.

Investigators have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
