Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was shot during a robbery in the state’s north last night.
The 20-year-old man was in a laneway near a Coffs Harbour shopping centre at 6.50pm when he was confronted by a man who demanded his phone and wallet.
The man told police he was shot in the shoulder as the offender ran off with his wallet. He then attempted to walk through the shopping centre before an unknown woman came to his aid, contacting emergency services.
He is receiving treatment for a non life-threatening injury to his shoulder.
Police are now asking for anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour at the shopping complex last night or who knows the identity of the offender to come forward.
He is described as having a dark complexion and dark scruffy hair, and was wearing dark clothing.
