Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at Frankston service station early Sunday morning.
Investigators have been told two male offenders, with what appears to be clothing covering their faces, entered the Cranbourne Road store via the front entrance just after 7am.
One offender approached the counter armed with a knife and made a demand for cash. The second offender remained several paces behind and was armed with what appeared to be a hand gun.
A quick thinking taxi driver yelled out to the store attendant to hit the duress alarm which has caused both offenders to flee the scene on foot empty handed.
