Two people are due to appear in Lismore court charged over an alleged robbery and assault at Lightning Ridge last Thursday.
Police from Castlereagh Local Area Command were investigating a break and enter on a business in Three Mile Road in the early hours of 16 June where a 71-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by two men.
Cash and jewellery were allegedly stolen during the attack.
Acting on information, police from Richmond Local Area Command arrested a man and a teenaged youth at a home in McDougal Street, Casino, 11.15am yesterday.
Cash was recovered during a search of home. A Ford Falcon sedan was been seized for forensic examination.
A 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth were taken to Casino Police Station where each was charged with break, enter and steal in circumstances of aggravation.
Following the interview Police from Lightning Ridge searched a property north of Lighting Ridge and located a quantity of jewellery.
They were refused bail and held in custody overnight.
The man will appear in Lismore Local Court, while the youth will appear in Lismore Children’s Court, later today.
