A woman is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court later today, charged with being an accessory to an armed robbery at Kiama earlier this year.
Strike Force Gungah was established to investigate the armed robbery of a supermarket in Kiama on 13 April when two men – one armed with a machete and one armed with a shortened firearm – entered the store allegedly intending to rob the attendant. They stole cash and left the scene.
The following day, a shot was allegedly fired into a house at Osprey place, Albion Park Rial, about 10pm. No one was injured, however, the bullet penetrated the exterior and four internal walls ending up in the dining room.
Detectives arrested and charged two men, aged 26 and 30, earlier this month over the two incidents. They remain in custody.
Following ongoing investigations, detectives attached to Strike Force Gungah yesterday arrested a 29-year-old woman at Lake Illawarra Police Station.
She was charged with being an accessory before and after the fact to armed robbery, and being an accessory before and after the fact of fire firearm at dwelling with disregard for safety.
Police will allege the woman drove the two men to and from the supermarket on the day of the armed hold-up on 13 April, and to and from the home in Albion Park Rail on 14 April.
The woman, from Cordeaux Heights was refused bail before today’s court appearance.
