Two men have been charged following an alleged break-in at a liquor store in Clarence Town early this morning.
About 3am (Friday 1 July), a man walking past the store on Grey Street saw a number of men carrying bottles of alcohol from the store into a car parked nearby.
The owner of the store was notified and when he attended a short time later, the men allegedly ran from the scene.
Police were notified and officers attached to Port Stephens Local Area Command attended and canvassed the area.
A short time later, officers spoke to a 16-year-old boy who was found in a car in Queens Street.
The boy and an 18-year-old man, both from Newcastle, were arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station.
The two were charged with a number of offences including aggravated break and enter.
The 18-year-old man was refused bail and will appear in Maitland Local Court tomorrow.
The 16-year-old male was also refused bail was expected to appear in court today.
Investigations into the incident continue.
