A 24-year-old Burleigh Waters man has been charged following the alleged robbery of a Broadbeach supermarket yesterday.

Around 12.15pm, it is alleged a male entered the Hooker Boulevard store and requested an amount of cigarettes from the counter attendant.

It is then alleged the man has fled the store with the cigarettes without paying, after they were placed on the counter.

The man allegedly threatened two males with a syringe as they attempted to pursue him, before he was apprehended by police shortly after.

No one was injured during this incident.

The 24-year-old man will appear before the Southport Magistrates Court today charged with one count of armed robbery.
