It was either the sound of breaking glass or the alarm just before 4am that alerted a nearby resident to a male inside a restaurant on Portrush Road, Payneham South.

The witness saw the intruder ride off on a pushbike and with police quickly on scene, the man was found in a nearby street.

With the witness able to give police a good description of his clothing he was arrested for the break-in.

Police will also allege he had some of the proceeds of the break-in in his backpack.

A 39-year-old man of an unknown address at this time is charged with serious criminal trespass and breach of bail.

It is likely he will face Court later today.
