Police have arrested and charged two teenagers over an armed raid on a general store at Quakers Hill, in Sydney’s north-west.

Two males, allegedly armed with a machete and knives, entered the Railway Road business about 7pm yesterday (Saturday 14 May) and stole a large quantity of cigarettes, cash and other items.

Police from Quakers Hills Local Area Command responded quickly to the incident and pursued one of the males on foot.

Officers chased the alleged offender over a number of residential fences before losing sight of him.

However, both males were arrested a short time later when they returned to collect some of the stolen goods they had discarded while trying to flee.

They were taken to Quakers Hill Police Station and questioned by investigators, while Forensic Armed Robbery Unit officers examined the crime scene for evidence.

An 18-year-old man was charged with robbery in company and refused bail to appear in Penrith Bail Court today, while a 14-year-old boy was also charged with robbery in company and held in custody to appear in Parramatta Children’s Court today.

Inquiries are continuing and anyone who witnessed the robbery is urged to contact Quakers Hill Detectives via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
