Police are appealing for information following an alleged armed robbery in the state’s north this morning.

Just before 2am (Thursday 4 August 2011), a man entered a petrol station on Maitland Road, Islington, and allegedly approached an employee who was behind the counter.

The man threatened the 23-year-old employee with a knife before demanding cash from the till.

After obtaining an amount of money the alleged offender ran from the scene and the victim contacted police.

The man did not suffer any injuries as a result of the incident.

Police attended the location and conducted a canvass of the area; however the alleged offender could not be located.

Police are searching for a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries into the incident.

He is described as being about 35-years-old with facial hair. At the time he was wearing a black and white hooded jacket, jeans and white shoes. The man was also wearing glasses.
