A man has been charged following an aggravated robbery in Singleton last night.

About 6.20pm (Saturday 6 August 2011), a 46-year-old man entered a liquor store on Gowrie Street, Singleton, and attempted to purchase some alcohol.

Due to his level of intoxication, the manager – a 41-year-old woman – refused service, and the man threatened her.

The man then assaulted the woman and left the store. The victim suffered minor lacerations to her mouth.

Police from Hunter Valley Local Area Command attended the store and conducted inquiries.

The man was later arrested at his residence on Kelso Street, Singleton and taken to Muswellbrook Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated robbery, assault and intimidation offences. He has been refused bail and is due to appear in Muswellbrook Local Court today (Sunday 7 August 2011).
